Beaumaris, so often the underdogs in local cricket, have got their hands on a piece of silverware for the first time, as winners of the Tysilio Cup.
- They raised the reward after defeating Bethesda by six wickets - but only with one over to spare - in an absorbing final, played at the Anglesey Aluminium ground at Holyhead.
- Beaumaris player, Tristan Hughes was acclaimed as the player-of-the-final because of his batting and bowling contributions.
- Bethesda totalled 104 all-out, after reasonable knocks by Steve Watson on 22 and Kelvin Evans 19, while Beaumaris's bowling credits went to Dave Williams on 3 for 15 and Tristan Hughes, 2 for 10.
- The response by Beaumaris's batsmen progressed to 105 for 4 and the mainstays were Steve Barker making 27 and Tristan Hughes, still there at the end on 21 not out.
- Not much luck followed the Bethesda bowlers, who had Leon Williams on 2 for 11
- The Tysilio Cup was presented by the Anglesey Aluminium host Derek Griffith to the Beaumaris Captain, David Pickles, who happens to double as the Holland Arms Garden Centre League's general secretary.

Menai Bridge v. Beaumaris 25th August 01.

Another win today at Menai Bridge.Congratulations to the team -

Division two leaders Beaumaris triumphed again by nine wickets and 10-0 points at Menai Bridge Seconds, where the Barker brothers were in fine form again. They remain top of the second division after taking all the points. Menai Bridge were bowled out for 80 - by Lance Williams(4 for 26), Tristan Hughes(3 for 18) and Dave Barker(3 for 24). Barker then made an unbeaten 36, with Steve Barker 31 not out in the response of 81 for 1.

Report Pwllheli v. Beaumaris - July 2001.

.A lovely day was had by all at Efailnewydd , the weather was warm and sunny and the pitch was superb. Beaumaris won the toss and elected to field, Pwllheli batted well but Beaumaris bowlers contained them to 149 runs for 9, ably assisted by good, accurate fielding and the willingness of Sean, Tom, and Arwel to throw themselves around the pitch. The Beaumaris batsmen then went to work, opener Dave Barker accrued 60 not out and was supported by Tristan Hughes on 26, followed by Gwilym Bullock with a well played 15. After 32 overs we were 107 for three and the target of 5 an over for the remaining eight overs seemed a sensible target, however Dafydd Evans had other ideas and played himself in with 4,6,4,4 in his 21 not out in the following four overs. Hence we achieved a 9-1 points victory and now stand 14 points ahead of Bethesda in the League table. Our next game is at home to Fron Dinas on Sunday 29th . Fron had a good win last Sunday against Mochdre, which bodes well for an exciting game this Sunday. They are promising good weather, so bring your sun cream and hat and get to the Llangefni ground by 2pm, refreshments available. TYSILIO CUP NEWS. We now know who are opponents are in the final, which will be held on August 19th at Anglesey Aluminium. The second semi-final was eventually played last Sunday and Bethesda were the victors, beating Bodedern by 45 runs. This should be an exciting game, as it will be the first time that Beaumaris have been in the final for many a year. Therefore with both a cup Final and the prospect of First Division cricket next season the year (so far) has been an excellent tribute to the players dedication and loyalty and to the unstinting hard work and organisation of the Captain/Chairman David Pickles. The only sad thing is the lack of a home ground; imagine how good it would be for the team to be able to play home games in Beaumaris, supported by the locals. I wonder how many residents of Beaumaris and the surrounding area realise that the cricket team exists?. Not many, I'm sure!!. Beaumaris hold the record for not having played a home game "at home". I believe it is 25 years plus since they played in Beaumaris itself, as I said, it is sad that such an attractive Town cannot play host to its own team and again this is not due to lack of endeavour by the local Sports Association, of which David Pickles and myself are recent members but thereby hangs another tale.
